The very first indicator to know when it’s time to begin outsourcing is that you don’t have time for tasks that you used to have time for. Typically this looks like daily or weekly tasks that you used to have margin for but don’t now. These tasks are important for your business growth though so can’t be ignored. Now, it’s important to note here that there’s a difference between being in a busy season and consistenly missing deadlines or tasks that are imperative to your business growth. There might be a season where the calendar is very full but if you find that you are always busy and are continuously not prioritizing essentials tasks, it’s time to hire help.
When you are thinking about where to look first for help, begin with your business friends and ask if they know of people who might be a good fit and have availability. Word of mouth referrals are HUGE and can help you find one amazing team member.
A great problem to have is experiencing business growth but sometimes it can be incredibly overwhelming. Sometimes too, it comes at the most unexpected times and you have to act on it to avoid burnout. I’ve been here. My business grew very fast one year out of no where and I remember so vividly feeling like what just happened? One day I was working with a few clients behind the scenes and then had so many clients in my inbox that I couldn’t keep up. This might happen and it could be such a big blessing but also hard to navigate. If this happens, it’s definitely time to consider bringing some additional support on.
There is a fine line when you are ready to scale because you want to make sure that you don’t bring on help too soon. Sometimes we think we are ready to scale and find that our business actually isn’t. But, if you are ready to take your business to the next level, outsourcing is going to be key. The best CEO’s have a great team to support them behind the scenes. Unfortunately we can’t do this all on our own. If you want to scale your business to new heights, you MUST bring on a virtual assistant and maybe even more team members beyond that. VA’s are usually the first hires for people because that opens up some margin for them to work on higher level tasks.
Furthermore, you as. the business owner need to only be focusing on the tasks that only you can do. Outsource the rest of it! Things that only you can do could include creating new content, recording podcasts or Youtube videos, guest speaking, and more. Don’t get caught in the weeds of the mundane tasks because that will hinder your business growth.
Finally, you may very well be burnt out and need a break. You will never be able to sustain your business growth without bringing on help – it simply isn’t possible. I know it can seem scary and overwhelming to trust someone else to handle your business tasks but it will be imperative if you want to be in business for the long haul. When you find the right virtual assistant and train them, you’ll very quickly see how much of a difference it will make. in your life and business.
As you’re considering hiring a virtual assistant for your team, don’t settle. You might have a trial and error experience when trying to find the right person but don’t give up because when you do find the right team member, it’s an absolute game changer! I believe too that you’ll know deep down when it’s time to hire help and you’ll learn and grow along the way. Find the people who will stand in your corner and support you and your business fiercely.
